Job Title: Ripening Technician

Job Purpose: Banana Ripening off load trailers, load chambers, Puller daily orders and cleans chambers. Assists the Ripening Manager in responsibilities for the efficient operation of the ripening facility within the warehouse. They will work closely with customer and vendors to ensure optimal fulfillment of orders with product that meets customer standards, and in accordance to WCD procedures.
Daily Responsibilities
- Banana Ripening must follow all Safety SOP s
- Banana Ripening must follow break and lunch schedule
- Banana Ripening is responsible to off load and stage load coming in to the DC
- Banana Ripening is responsible to load pallet into the chamber once cleared by Supervisor or Manager
- Banana Ripening is responsible to puller the daily order provided by the Supervisor or Manager
- Banana Ripening is responsible to clean the chamber, the schedule will be provided by the Supervisor or Manager
- Supervise the continuous ripening cycle to meet demand and maintain product quality and shelf-life.
- Conduct required inbound inspections to ensure product meets criteria prior to the ripening process.
- Work closely with Ripening Manager to communicate with customer and Distribution Center any anticipated changes in demand or supply.
- Oversee the proper sanitation in area.
- Oversee the proper Preventive Maintenance program for rooms and equipment.
- Track and maintain records of any customer feedback, with corrective actions, as necessary.
Minimal Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent and relevant certifications and experience.
- Must be certified and able to operate electric pallet jack.
- Ability to work independently and as a Team.
- Strong commitment to SAFETY
- Ability to pay close attention to detail, meet deadlines, and work with difficult individuals or task assignments.
- Relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: must get along with co-workers without exhibiting behavioral extremes;perform work activities requiring reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others;and respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of shipping and customer order fulfillment.
- Detail oriented and excellent people skills.
- Must be able to read and understand numbers and labels.
- This position requires associates to follow MHE Operations and Safe Driving practices, Safe Lifting, No Contact Policy, MHE Check out Process, and any other safety rules or policies
- Functional knowledge of:
- Banana Ripening Process
- Banana quality and maturation.
- Knowledge of banana supply chain.
- Strong Planning and organizational skills
Reasoning Ability:
- Must be able to interact with all levels of management and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
